2006

A very simple game about consuming other organisms in order to grow in size. After awhile, I stopped growing and eventually stopped finding new areas. About an hour and a half in I landed at 77% and was unable to progress as I had no idea where I was at that point.

This was a DQ game that I never really had high hopes for, and I don't even know why I always felt that way about it. Looking back after beating this amazing game, I realized that prior to actually playing the game, I had no idea what the story was about. This is a story that spans over a decade as you follow Abel, son of Pankraz, who sets out to find the hero to avenge his father and find his mother. I feel like the party members in this game mean so much to me because they're family. The story means so much to me because it's about family. It makes it that much more impactful when things happen to your party members in the story because of who they are. What I really didn't expect from the story were all of the big twists across the multiple acts. It made for such an interesting story that I would gladly play again in the future. It was rather linear (despite the fact that it doesn't exactly hold your hand at times), but that means that it's lacking in fluff and unnecessary plotlines. I love the main cast and I think it's subversive story about having to find the hero instead of playing as him was a great change of pace. Ladja was an interesting enough villain, but I felt that he could've been a little bit more involved in the story at times. It's not the biggest deal to me, but he could've been a little more fleshed out at times. Overall this is a rather perfect RPG that I would highly recommend to any fans of DQ or RPGs in general.

Sped through simply to get the platinum. Main account with max everything is on my switch.

Obtained a majority of the trophies I missed with this run. Still a very good game even on what I think is my 3rd playthrough overall. Will continue to replay it until I obtain the platinum trophy.

A touching little story about a girl's life/first relationship. A very short and charming interactive story that I think is worth it's roughly 30-minute runtime. The different ways you interacted with the story were kinda fun and engaging enough for me.

2016

A short but worthwhile game about the beauty and wonders of the sea. I find it hard not to compare it to Journey, despite it not really sharing many similarities. While Journey is a multiplayer game in which you have full autonomy over your character, I kinda felt like I was being guided along a path the entire time I played this. Nonetheless, it was a fun and gorgeous ride that I will likely take again in the future as I try to obtain the platinum trophy.

Paused shortly after the first boss

Unfinished, not sure if I'll pick up later

Not as good as 3, but I never got the upgrades.

Apparently never finished the Zexal story

Only a few hours in, will get back to it eventually.

Will likely never finish as it's long ah hell boi

Beat the arcade modes for most of the characters.

Completed everything except for the hardest dungeons. Maxed out every character except for most of the main 2 characters vocations.
