I played 4-8 games upon my friend's request. I played Tusk, Riki, Snapfire, and Gyrocopter. I also played a game where you play a random hero upon dying and did best with Slardar.

I am very clearly out of my element. I don't typically play games with keyboard + mouse and I have no experience with MOBAs other than a short time with Pokemon Unite. Very basic things like movement and camera positioning took a while to get used to, so more complex things like leveling and equipment was rough.

But I liked it. I always love large-roster competitive games, especially where there's a lot of asymmetry and this does it. I don't think I would ever actively practice or initiate, but I wouldn't mind if someone invited me.

When a Roguelike works, it works. I especially like Roguelikes on mobile platforms, since the format is just way better suited for small bursts of gameplay over a long time.

Really fun gameplay base with lots of options to customize your experience. While the experience is pretty bare-bones, I like the rare moments of flavor like certain classes (I especially like Dabble/Dabbler/Dabblest) or the characters' lines of dialogue during certain choices.

I played with 3 other friends, all of whom played on PC while I played PS5 (I have a long history of playing FPSs on controllers and would rather use a console than my PC from 2018). I played as Amara. I only played half of BL2 during high school, but my friends have played and completed multiple BL games.

Going in, I expected this to be a game entirely for the experience. The gameplay would be fun and the story/humor could have high points, but it's really about doing a robust campaign with friends. Not only was it plagued with issues, I drastically underestimated how terrible the story and even gameplay would be. BL2's story and characters weren't great, but they were memorable. BL3's PCs are truly nothing characters and I'm shocked at how lacking in...everything the main villains are. The gameplay wasn't as good as I remembered. It's just way too chaotic to be any fun. It's wild how bad the UI is. I constantly shot at my own friends because there was no indication that they are not enemies. Guns were kinda interesting but I just felt encouraged to go for highest levels and whatever shot fast.

But I really had no sense that this game had any level of quality control over it. SHIFT was notoriously bad, with one of my friends having to wait minutes whenever we loaded to a new area and often disconnecting. We had trouble creating lobbies or keeping a stable connection. Moze's Iron Bear is incredibly bad where she couldn't go through most doors and had to wait for her command to end before she could do anything. We did a long and seemingly important sidequest where the reward was just money. Vehicular gameplay was just not fun in general with enemy vehicles being really powerful and your vehicles being fragile.

I admit that we kinda rushed through the game, but we did a decent amount of sidequests and we all experimented with our class trees. Really, the most fun we had was bashing the game's decisions, which made this feel less like a MMORPG and more like The Room. If that sounds fun, keep in mind that The Room is, at most, a 2 hour experience while BL3 is a 35+ hour experience.
