A weird tangent for SSI to go down after Pool of Radiance and Curse of the Azure Bonds. There's more of an attempt to mix arcade style gameplay by way of minigames with the usual fantasy RPG elements, but none of it is very fun to play. It does contain one of the earliest lockpicking minigames I can think of for whatever that's worth.

Very strange spinoff/interstitial game in the D&D Gold Box series that is essentially a few minigames connected by a town overworld? Like roughly half the playtime is lockpicking and riding a side-scrolling horse? Weird digression. The modern version of this would be a mobile game companion to a massive-budget triple-A release.

Pretty ambitious for an RPG on the NES, but I can't say it's much fun to play. Moving and navigating the menus is a total slog. The combat is also just really confusing, especially for a DnD video game. The weird horse riding mini game as you're travelling feels pretty pointless as well.
