A very clean and fun shoot em up. While it's 7 levels aren't full of crazy creativity and colour, it's very well refined and the boss fights are excellent, with nothing unfair or over the top, while still being challenging and really rewarding.

The main game, unlike a lot of shoot em ups, consists of a rougelike mode (Arcade, where the difficulty is set, you have permadeath, and have a selection of 1 of 3 upgrades each round for the run) and a rougelite mode (Campaign, where you can upgrade your ships and characters permanently).

Because of the Rougelite elements, I was worried that the difficulty would be basically artificial, locked behind grinding, after which it would become too easy, but I didn't find that to be the case, and the classic goal of hardcore shmup players to earn a 1cc in the harder modes is a challenge with or without upgrades.

It's very readable, very accessible, and extremely clean, and the 4 characters and different modes gives plenty of variety, and the last stage with it's crazy, 7-8 stage boss battle is brilliant. There are flaws of course. The translation leaves something to be desired, the frame rate really struggles during some of the later levels, the bosses are fun but mostly lack personality, there is an endearing but ultimately unsuccessful attempt at a story and world/character building, the difficulty is relatively low, the roguelite progression isn't perfect, and stylistically, its very pleasing, but never exciting or over the top in the way that other bullet hell/shoot-em-up games are.

It's an awesome shmup for beginners, and to be fair, I'm no veteran. It's a fun time after grinding something like Vasara. The characters offer real variety (though it's a shame the only female character is so...clearly female). I've dropped a clean 8 hours on it so far, and definitely see myself digging in more, getting that veteran 1CC and finishing the campaign with all characters.

Highly recommended.
