The game's aesthetics are awesome, and playing as a swamp demon certainly appeals to the terato rogue fantasy so close to my heart... HOWEVER: The intense pixelisation inhibits visibility to the point of not only making the design hard to appreciate, but being detrimental to the very gameplay. The game's movement is wonderfully quick and slick, and the first Act is genuinely a great level to conquer. The second Act, however... frustrating puzzle mechanics that can be hard to understand, but do not provide a meaningful cerebral challenge. Even with perfect play, the level stretches on for far longer than it should, and is honestly no fun at all.

Sorry, Brush Burial.

I really appreciated this game's visuals and atmosphere, and the first act was really fun to explore. Sneakin', stabbin', stealin'. Very fun time there.

The second act was really rough as it's based around a really layered and obtuse puzzle that involves a lot of repetition and guesswork. I enjoyed picking apart the puzzle and meeting it on its own terms, but it just annihilated the game's pacing and didn't have any of the fun frantic combat that the first act had.

I've been reading the dev's posts on Steam and it seems like they're open to the feedback they've been getting on this second act, so hopefully it'll get cleaned up a bit more in the future. There's a lot to like about this game and a cleaned up Act 2 would make it easier to recommend to my friends who love this sort of indie. I really liked it despite its flaws and I'm glad I pushed past the rough second bit to finish the game.
