I love this New Jack Swing album that Sega released but I don't know why they felt the need to attach a borderline unplayable beat-em-up to it

Boy, it's too bad that this plays like absolute dogshit because SEGA really was going for something with this game's presentation. Some of the animation is incredibly fluid, and that James Brown-ass music!

But alas, this is straight-up kusoge. I am floored that something this mechanically inept came out of a major developer so long after DOUBLE DRAGON and FINAL FIGHT.

Easily one of the best intros of any arcade game. While a song that has a "shut up already" sample plays, a pimp calls up some yelling guy and says "YO GOTTA BOMB IN YA PARK !!" Big explosions and sirens. The only way that would be any better is if that line was voiced, though I could understand that would probably lead to panic and cause this game to get recalled. Considering the rest of the game, that would have been a blessing.

The game looks great with its big, animated sprites, but to say this is nowhere near Streets of Rage in gameplay is an understatement. The moves your characters do seem to be completely random; one can never rely on anything other than jump kicks, because your character might decide to do a punch or kick that has no range whatsoever just because he feels like it otherwise. Jump kicking the same generic enemies that appear in every stage over and over again seems to be the entire game except for fighting the bosses. Played this for a few levels, saw the rest on YouTube and saw it never really gets better. Outside of the aforementioned intro, Gung Ho's run cycle, and that one level where you can have those enemies drop into a hole, this game isn't worth your time.
