Daytona USA 2: Battle on the Edge

Daytona USA 2: Battle on the Edge is an arcade racing game released by Sega in 1998 as a follow-up to the extremely successful Daytona USA. The game featured vastly superior graphics, utilizing the Sega Model 3 hardware. The majority of Daytona USA 2 cabinets were released as deluxe models (with far fewer Twin Cabinets), which could be linked together for up to four players. A notable change from the original is the ability to select a car and corresponding driver, each with varying capabilities for varying levels of player experience. Just like before, the game has three courses – a Beginner course with 8 laps, an Advanced course with 4 laps, and a long Expert course with 2 laps. The 'time lap' mode also returns, and is accessed in the same manner – by holding down start at the transmission select screen. Like the original game, mirrored versions of the tracks can also be played by holding down the Start button when selecting the course. It is recommended, however, that the player has had mastery of the course beforehand. By request, an arcade operator could put the game on Grand Prix or Endurance mode to increase the number of laps in a game. Finishing a race in the top 3 in any course allows the player to view an "ending" and see the game credits.

Power Edition's challenge mode is among the most platonically perfect courses in arcade racing. Catch me in the HARD-LEVEL CAR shifting through skyscrapers at incredible speed.

probably the best arcade racer SEGA ever made. takes everything that worked about DUSA1 and cranks it up to 11; it's a lot harder to wrap your head around this game compared to the first, but once you do you access what's probably some of the most satisfying driving in any videogame ever.

Jogado no Steam Deck

Played all tracks in Power Edition- today being the first time I actually got to complete Advanced Reverse and Expert Reverse...the only two tracks that were missing for me to complete after beating the rest of the tracks normally in 2021 or so.

The coolest thing is to have achieved those runs with the Hornet of all things- which forces you to gearshift/play Daytona USA 1 style. So yeah, I can mark this one as completed...technically.

I think the only thing left now would be racing ALL TRACKS in Mirror mode...but I wouldn't bet on that unless I happened to feel like it again and get a good streak to beat all seven races again but in mirror mode.

an insanely humbling racing experience.
The high risk high reward system is so exhilarating once you start winning

There seems to be a lot of hardcore fans of this one and I can see why: with the high energy cars, the awesome music, and the visually interesting courses (especially the amusement park) there's definitely a lot to love!

TIME EXTENSION!

Please teach me how to play this insane game I can finish the races but I can't place above 9th I know there's skill to this and would love to git gud.
