Death Race is a vehicular combat game that puts your car in an open space with gremlins. Your goal is the crash into the gremlins so you can brutally and cruelly kill them. Upon dying, they scream. In the spot where the gremlin once was, a cross-shaped gravestone will be left. This clutters the playing field, making it harder to move around. There are dotted lines on the sides, representing two narrow "safe" zones on the left and right sides of the screen for the gremlins, as your car will crash on contact with the dotted lines.

It has respects for being one of the earliest controversial game. I bet playing this in the actual arcade is harder and more compelling, but emulated doesn't have the same kick!

The poster, as for a lot of Arcade games, is so good.
The game is ok, could be a minigame for modern standards, but I played it as part of a line of early games so I got my fun from it, especially because of the audio design

A curiosity with very simplistic gameplay aided by some cheeky audio effects when running people over.

This poster goes so hard.

It's incredibly funny that the top review of this is just "Edgelord shit" Like dude the Nasty Patty episode of SpongeBob is more Transgressive than this.

A pretty sturdy edgelord novelty, with the driving controls on the stiff side but the satisfication of mowing down these little pixelated gremlins worth getting the hang of.

Is this game fun in modern days? Nah. Is it totally worth playing? Yup. That scream when you smash a pedestrian haunts me. Played at Funspot in NH
