Okay, so to start this was a weird experience due to the cabinet I played it on having a faulty monitor, but aside from that this was an interesting ride that shifted from very exciting to just a bit old a little faster than expected.

I played through as Undead, the knife wielding, high technical rating character and cleared the final boss stage in roughly an hour's time or so.

The gameplay is typical beat-em-up style, with a single attack button, a jump button, and a block button. These can be combo-ed together in very limited ways including an area of effect technique by combining block and jump, a jump attack, and a tricky to execute at times guard-punch, which can be charged. You can also use guard and attack in unison to lift items from the ground to throw, swing, or use to restore health or buff strikes.

The game uses a 3D level system, so you are punching in all eight directions, which means that later engagements get a little overwhelming, but overall the combat is easy, simple, and eventually becomes repetitive.

The real highlight here are Vertigo techniques that, upon activation, warp you around to each enemy currently on screen, allowing you to mash the punch button to eradicate every present foe one by one, or to dish out fast damage with invincibility frames against boss enemies. It stays satisfying throughout with a surprise touch regarding the mechanic during one of the last few boss battles.

It's a short game that doesn't innovate or challenge much, but starts off a LOT of fun by merit of how strong it makes players feel and how flashy it looks. If it weren't for the heavy dependance on vehicular enemies in the early to mid game and the highly punishing patterns of a few of the late game bosses, the difficulty and player empowerment would be perfect.

If you like beat-em-ups I highly recommend it. If you're looking for a one time title to play at a free play arcade you absolutely can't go wrong. But if you see this one asking for quarters at a pay arcade, maybe steer clear unless you really brought your wallet.
