Dragon Spirit is a vertical scrolling shooter arcade game that was released by Namco in 1987 and licensed to Atari Games for its American manufacture and distribution. In the kingdom of Mitgult, a serpent demon named Zawell escapes imprisonment after a thousand years, and kidnaps Princess Alicia. A soldier named Amul is chosen to rescue her and destroy Zawell. He points his sword skyward and transforms into a powerful blue dragon. He can breathe fire and drop bombs, as well as collect up to thirteen additional powers during his journey. Amul must fight nine of Zawell's mightiest beasts, one at the end of each stage, before facing Zawell himself.

Xevious with a dragon theme. Decent gameplay, music and visuals, but it does get repetitive.

It seems like a decent arcade shooter. I wasn't able to get very far because of the high difficulty.

I've always been intrigued by this game when I was growing up, it came out on a variety of consoles and home computers and I loved its colorful graphics and, most of all, the idea that the main character is a flying dragon. It's not the best shoot'em up ever, especially on the PC Engine which was home to so many, but it's a good conversion of the arcade game and it has a pretty unique design.

A really difficult Xevious clone.

Way too big of a model and slow with an awful stage 8.
