A mod for Half-Life 2

Dystopia is a cyberpunk game on the Source engine that places the player into tense combat situations in a high-tech world spanned by computer networks. Playing as either Punk mercenaries, or Corporate security forces, the player will fight through the physical world to gain access, via jack-in terminals, to cyberspace.

one of the best source mods, hands down

complete banger. it's an honest-to-god shame it didn't survive the test of time

I miss the days of HL2 mods. It was like alt-indie gaming where a bunch of friends always had something new to play. Some were bad, some were fine, and others were Dystopia levels of great.

If you want me to point to a game that I think never got it's time in the spotlight, I will always point to Dystopia. Not only is it a solid class based shooter, I think it does classes better than most 2020 modern ones. Throw in that all maps exist both in meat space (the physical world) and cyber space (where players jack in like net runners to duke it out "hacking" digital objectives to progress physical barriers in meat space).

I only really sit back and think "What could have been" if this game was easier to access, or got more wide scale attention. I miss it and think of it so, so fondly.
