It's a good spin-off story but would do better job as an anime. Character models are ugly as fuck and animations are choppy. They should've put character portraits in the game so we could see Kenichi Yoshida's amazing character designs more and not just only in the opening.
Story isn't bad if you watched the anime but would be boring if you know nothing about the series. Some characters are very annoying, just like the original series, but you have character development in there. There is none I see of in the game. Still, there is Vol 2, so we will see how they will do there.

Gameplay-wise it was more fun and varied than I expected. Mech battles were fast-paced and chaotic, just like the anime series. You need to be constantly on the move and transform, while you're keeping an eye of your ammo and energy or you will bombarded with missiles. Weapon variety was enough and they were fun to use. Close combat is based on combos and it's a good choice because you can see your progression, just as Sumner as a soldier.

Aerial fights was promising too but we only played it like two times in story and one was tutorial so I will leave it to Vol 2.

I like it when devs add on foot sections in mecha games. They may be unnecessary in this game but it makes you feel you're not the mech but the one that drives it.

Game makes you use your fists and guns in some sections but both of them has clunky controls. There are combos in fist fight too but it is more practical to just mash the buttons and beg for it to end quickly so that you can get to driving your mech again. Don't spend too much money on guns because you will only use them two or three times. Spend your money on the mech customization.

Lifting was totally unnecessary but they probably added it because it was important in the anime. Other than rushing to your mech in battlefield in some missions, there are some racing sections in story and they are utterly boring.

Janky gameplay made up for by being a nice little spinoff story. I felt more emotions when the Nirvash showed up here than the entirety of the og anime.
