It was not as good as the 2nd game, it lacked content even.

I gave this game away to a friend back in the day, he enjoyed it more than I did.

Ah yes, Gran Turismo's little "content-poor/not that fun" second cousin.

This is that kinda game you might've enjoyed as a kid, but that's the only time you could've enjoyed it.

It's such a ridiculous game. For some reason it has no handbrake. Other than directional buttons, only camera-changing button is used. And for some reason this game has an insane amount of camera modes. It is so bizarre to me that they'd implement so many camera modes, but no handbrake. Driving on the curb is virtually impossible because you start rapidly losing speed, and it goes all the way down. The handling is otherwise okay, but the collision model is crazy. Hitting any other car makes you lose control, and once that happens, you'll probably drift off to the curb where you'll lose all speed and won't ever be able to catch up with the competition again.

The graphics are pretty good for 2001, though not very creative. But I genuinely laughed out loud when I selected "Snow" for a quick race, and it's basically just a 2D sprite that follows you everywhere. Same thing with rain, not even the skybox changes. The night mode made the game crash for me, but I doubt I'm losing much.

The one thing I enjoyed about this game is the option to enable a TV broadcast of the race playing out in the top-right corner. I don't think I've ever seen this feature in any racer, but it actually helps you get a good understanding of where your opponents are. But again, this is basically an extra camera mode playing alongside the main one, which makes the game look even more bizarre. It's like the developers are some kinda camera-crazed maniacs who were hell-bent on implementing all of these modes at the expense of other areas of the game. Perhaps they thought of themselves as innovators and radical thinkers who will alter the course of the racing genre or something. I'm starting to think the exclusion of a handbrake might've been purposeful. Perhaps they just don't believe in a handbrake.

Whatever is the case, this game feels unfinished. Outside of its camera shenanigans it has nothing to offer that you wouldn't see in a plethora of other racers of the era.

this was like a game i chased after for years because i remembered playing it as a child and now that i have it. well.
