Your heart will race as you watch Momoko grow! Moe & exciting shooting action! "Momoko 1200%" is a remake of Jaleco's action game "Momoko 120%", which was previously released for feature phones. The main character is Momoko, a 12-year-old girl who falls in love with the Martian prince "The Greatest Fire Dancer". Use light-hearted action to tear and throw the Martians who have come to invade Earth! Tear and throw! Aim for the exit somewhere in the field! Clear the stage by entering the exit or defeating a certain number of enemies! As the game progresses, Momoko will grow into a "15-year-old (high school student)" or "18-year-old (working adult)". Depending on how you behave in the game, the schools and occupations you can go to, and even the special moves you can use will change. What kind of appearance will your Momoko show you? Pay attention to the Mars Prince's preferred type. The closer you get to the type, the more heated the final battle will be, and the greater the bonus score upon clearing. The type changes each time you play, so you can play under various conditions. Use special moves to destroy obstacles. Attack not only enemies but also walls and lockers to gain an advantage in the game! By destroying walls and lockers, you may be able to find a shortcut to the exit or items necessary for Momoko's growth. Momoko grows according to how you play. Let's grow Momoko by adjusting the number of enemies defeated, the number of items acquired, etc. If you defeat too much or acquire too much, you may become an unintended type...

The original is a masterclass is oldschool arcade weirdness, so when I found out about about a cellphone sequel I spent an enormous time trying my best to know more about it. How would a sequel play like? On old Japanese phones nonetheless! I've been fantasizing about playing this for the longest time and when I finally managed to play the G-Mode Archives rerelease it was honestly really... jank.

Momoko either goes slow as hell or dashes at mach speed so it's hard to have a grip on her movement; as a player you don't shoot as much as you toggle automated shooting with an option for autoaim (I guess it was probably meant as a speedrun type of experience) but it results in a lack of player involvement so I can't even describe the action of playing it because it was so devoid of everything, yet, it managed to feel like jank anyways. I think they were onto something because with some little arrangements this could've been an interesting experiment and, credit where credit is due, the presentation is pretty damn good for a cellphone of the era. But it's just not really responsive or fun and that's a huge shame.
