Hansel is a pretty short RPG-Maker game, which is actually pretty nice for being the creator's first game ever. I've seen a lot worse.

The game's story is quite simple. Two boys (twins) are tasked by their mother to search for herbs to cure their sick father. While doing so, they get chased by a wolf into an enchanted part of the forest, that they can't flee from. They have to break the witch's curse to go back home.

To do so, you have to solve a bunch of puzzles in a witch's house and free a white bird. An interesting thing about the game is, that you have to play through it 2 times to actually experience the full story, because you can't get the second ending (which I would call the good ending) on your first play through.

The game's visual representation is quite good, and I like the character portraits, even though I often mixed up both main characters, because they are twins and look very similar. The sound design isn't really outstanding here. It's not bad or something, just nothing special, and the puzzles itself were kinda cool. The only thing I really disliked when it comes to gameplay was that there is a chase sequence with the wolf and there are some dead ends in the forest, which you don't know about when you play for the first time.

The game itself is ok, but nothing too special in my opinion, but has some cool ideas. If you want to play it, go for it, it's for free, and it's not too long. But it's not like you're missing out too much if you don't.
