The mechanics of Islands of the Caliph are simple but they come together to make an involved mid-sized RPG adventure. It was a lot of fun getting to know the lore of this world and use it to solve its obscure mysteries. The combat is simple but once I got the rhythms down, it was satisfying.
I had to deal with some glitches and developer undersight along the way but the developer was very responsive as they deal with development post launch. In the end, I had a good time with Islands of the Caliph and it was, in its low-key way, quite evocative!

Played the demo. I think this game is trying to be like the old Dungeon Master games. Unfortunately, I've never played those games, so I don't understand the combat rhythm and I'm not the target audience.
