It Came From the Desert is an action-adventure game that derives its inspiration from the many cult-horror B-Movies of the 50's and 60's, the 1954 film Them in particular. The player plays the part of Dr. Greg Bradley, a geologist and the newest resident in town. Eager to satisfy his scientific mind, Bradley sets out to examine the crash-site of a mysterious meteor, but what he finds is not at all what he had been looking for. The game takes place all over Lizard Breath, and there are several different types of action / interaction. The adventure part of the game is very linear, guiding the player in a fairly set sequence of action sections. These include first-person bug shooting, scrolling overhead shooting, and a chase sequence.

A nicely done cinematic adventure that keeps the plot moving along with little minigames. They're not top quality, but everything is serviceable and the visuals and atmosphere in general are top notch.

The earliest real-time immersive sim I played. Incredible atmosphere, built up by foreboding music and a great story, that envelops you in a science fiction horror. Unfortunately, because it is so reliant on timing, if you miss a few days (stuck in hospital as the result of failing events) then you can completely lose the thread on necessary questlines.

Classic adventure game with a nice variety of mechanics and a fun “real-time” element. The ant shooting can get fiddly and frustrating but it doesn’t detract from the overall enjoyment.

My dad owned this for the Amiga 500, and me and my brother played it growing up.

Probably my first encounter with what could be described as a horror game. The soundtrack is genuinely un-nerving, and the encounters with the giant ants were really frightening at the time, especially for how old i was.
