I randomly decided to play this again for the first time since 2015. As far as free games go, Jigoku Kisetsukan is honestly pretty good as a touhou clone. Unfortunately this is a touhou style danmaku shooter with gradius syndrome, and that is every bit as painful as that sounds. A feeling made worse from the fact that some of the bullet hitboxes later on are outright satanic. Seriously some of these hitboxes feel up to twice as big as the sprites representing them. These dummy thicc hitboxes would at times make even an early-80's horizontal shmup blush. I've still 1cc'd hard mode but most of the challenge felt like it came from just not dying at the start of the stage 5 boss to make sure I would have enough shot-power/resources, which is not very fun or intuitive.

Great Touhou inspired game. Solid stages AND its free. Go play it!

I respect the shamelessness

A freeware that plays alright, it's definitely inspired by Touhou in some ways but has a lot of jank that would make a fan like me have to get some getting used to. I technically have a lot more to complain about but the game doesn't feel all that bad and some of the designs are cool. There's enough gameplay and some interesting patterns that can truly make it be called a full-length shooter. Definitely worth a try if you like that sort of thing, just be prepared to face it as an indie labour of love.
