Master of Orion 2 also known as MOO2 is considered the classic 4x turn based strategy game set in space. The game has a kind of cult status and even by to days standards is still only matched in game play by very few of its competitors.

This set the bar for 4x space games, still holds up today. Will always revisit this one every few years, and its nice you can finish a campaign in a couple of days.
Certainly better than the first gameplay and graphics-wise, but... It certainly is.
Still feels like the golden standard for 4x Space Games.
