McDroid

released on Aug 05, 2014

A super frantic Arcade Tower Defense, McDROID starts gently then progressively challenges your trigger finger and your wits (and your sanity) as you multitask like a robotic-spider-doggy-thing: running, shooting, building base, herding, healing, harvesting, repairing, planting, upgrading, researching, frying giant snail-hammer-thing with a giant-tesla-on-your-back (it actually happens).

i owed 10 year old me to finish this game.
i now want more but to strangle that little sh...

this is a clear example of great ideas poorly executed.
if you like tower defenses where you can move in the arena, stick to orcs must die, the trailer of this game is misleading in the freedom you actually have, you have to micromanage and kite enemies that are too fast for your poorly balanced weak turrets, like for real they are so weak you'd wish you could spam them to slighly increase damage but you can't , the towers are stationary on very selected points of the map, unless you wanna spend precious resources to buy a temporary help thingie, feels cheap in every sense of the word. treat yourself dungeon defenders, orcs must die, iron brigade, Kingdom : classic. those are some better balanced and more enjoyable shooter TD.
not even the camera seems well thoughout, you gotta hold right mouse button in order to properly TPS move it, or else its stationary for no other reason other than ''Ayy Lmao''.

edit : upon digging up it seems the devs balanced the entire game around coop, hence why the stupidly low power to deal with the enemies, but coop doesn't work anymore so, have fun..
the devs are also using AI art on their website, not only that but they link to magazines that gave positive reviews to their games, but those links lead to nowhere, they do not exist, one does exist but it does not say or praise the game as the website suggest it does, man i never expected to dig into a rabbithole like that

bugs : i already talked about co-op no longer working but how about audio cutting when other audio plays, ai of the turrets refusing to auto aiming at their targets forcing you to go babysit a single turret to get it to kill something, yknow, in a TD game, how about enemies not taking damage because there are enemies around them that prevent the turrent from setting aim, making it go crazy to decide who to target, i've seem them all, granted they aren't as frequent but dear god do they stack up once youre just trying to finish it, performance chugs on a ryzen 5 4600h and on people with computers much stronger than mine, i researched gameplays from other people who have some pretty beasts, and they have just as much chug.

on a higher note however, voice acting is nice and cute, best part of the whole game, if it wasn't such a silly made thing, i would enjoy its more childish and fun nature.
note to devs: before marketing your game as ''super challenging'' make sure that your game functions correctly because otherwise its not challenging, its unfair. you can find the devs taking notes from steam reviews about what seemed so unfair to them, but then they dipped because last update was a whiiiile ago
