"A Colorful, Yet Fundamentally Boring Puzzle-Platformer"

I was pretty disappointed by Mimpi. I went in expecting an interesting and colorful platformer, and instead left quickly upon discovering its painfully slow and boring level designs. Nearly all of its puzzles within the first few worlds are repetitive, predictable, and easy to complete. There is no real introduction to gameplay/world, as the game just throws you in without explaining a single thing. Thankfully, the game is rather easy, but it definitely threw me off from the get-go. The music is also on a continuous loop, which would forgivable if levels weren't so painfully long and unchanging.

The sound design has flaws, with audio sometimes not registering for certain actions/effects. While the art style is alright (reminding me of titles like Wandersong ), there aren't enough interesting things within each level that caught my eye. After two separate tries in liking this game, with the second attempt lasting barely over 30 minutes, I had to call it quits.

I just don't know what Mimpi is going for that separates it from the multitude of cardboard art style, puzzle-platformers that share its likeness. With an absence of a real story, and basic puzzles, nothing appealed to me in the end. I would Not Recommend this game, as it doesn't provide a compelling gameplay loop or story to complement its decent art style.

Final Verdict: 2/10 (Bad)
