Nitro Ball

Holy hell is Nitro Ball a blast to play! Data East took the balls-to-the-walls action of such titles like MERCS and Ikari Warriors and combined it with pinball, of all things. What's so incredible is that it works marvelously, and everything that makes both genres so much fun individually are seamlessly integrated. For instance, shooting foes can knock them into bumpers or special bonus targets, which earn you power ups and a ton of points. Each of the five stages has a cool theme, like zombies and space aliens, and mimics the length of a pinball field, with a big and nasty boss at the end. This is perhaps the only negative thing to be said about Nitro Ball: it's too short. The meager selection of play fields, while impressive and fun, are nowhere near enough, and you're left wanting more.

Smash TV + Pinball. It's frantic and exciting, having players blast through enemies to roll them into orbs to push through targets for score bonuses. Players turn into pinballs themselves, bouncing around to collect prizes and roll through enemy shooters.

It has simple structure but beautiful color and sound work that keeps it a quick blast the whole way through, that's even better with a friend!

Como Smash T.V. pero con temática de pinball. El único inconveniente que tiene es que no es un twin-stick, hubiera sido perfecto si los tuviera.

Pretty fun little game! Really nice pixel art - very much of its era (loads of action movie influences). Sound was an assault on the senses - driving chip tunes and sampled speech and loud sound FX. The gameplay itself was a mix of Smash TV and pinball. All the themed levels (Ghost level was my favourite) were set inside a pinball machine; you had to gun enemies down and push them towards holes in the floor, or knock down scenery for points and power ups. Occasionally you would pick up a power up that turned your character into a ball. 5 levels was all there was and it didn’t take long to finish but I enjoyed it. Used a lot of continues though!!
