Ironically the gameplay mechanic that clashes the hardest with the 1984-ey setting and tone is also the most annoying. The game tells me billions may die as long as victory is achieved and then in the gameplay the lives of the 4 chibi dudes inside my fort are more precious than almost anything. This would be excusable if micro-ing them to keep them alive wasn't tedious (on mobile at least).
