this game does to guitarists what tiktok does to children
Buuut it can be a decent way of teaching you a lot of basics and improving a fair bit! Which a metronome and some scales do for free, and better.. Official DLCs are also expensive as fuuuck so the game is deceptively expensive unless you're a based pirate or playing CDLCs.
If you're interested in this because you:
want a cheap amp sim?
just wanna get down some basics?
have some fun playing along to songs?
Sure! But beyond that, buying a decent guitar plugin and watching "Rock Discipline" instead would probably be wiser. Would it be more fun? idk not my problem

This is the game Guitar Hero seemed to point to, that seems so obvious once it exists. The interface isn't entirely successful, because the guitar-to-MIDI translation isn't completely foolproof. Additionally, the homebrew and custom song creation scene online made the game nearly infinite in its possibilities. I didn't stick with it long, but I'm glad to know I always could in the future.
