I'll go a lot more in depth in this review since it is practically impossible to find info on this game online.
School of Ragnarok is a 3D arena fighter where your customizable avatar can channel a guardian deity which will determine your moveset and which will fight alongside you in battle.
And it would be a pretty standard arena fighter if it weren't for its two standout features being incredibly annoying.
Having to capture checkpoints to gain the ability to use half of your moveset is a bit restrictive, but it gets downright annoying since getting control over these checkpoints only allows these skills to begin charging. While I can't comment on it fairly playing it on emulator (because your guardian's AI is bugged to hell) I have a tough time seeing this as anything but an annoyance.
The other main feature is what Dimps opted to call a "5D" perspective, what this means is that when you get close to your oponnent the camera will adopt a 2D point of view and your movements will be locked to moving away or towards the other player. This is the stupidest thing I've seen in a while, restricting your movement like this is disorientating since each player's guardian will keep fighting on their own and getting in the way of each player's attacks. Even if the guardians are fighting for control over the checkpoints the change in perspective does nothing that the camera lock-on doesn't do 10 times better already.
I'd give it 2 stars, but I imagine being able to customize your passive abilities with a nesica account (and having a functional guardian) would make the game fun enough to make it worth playing.

Also the character design is amazing and death goddess gas mask Junko Enoshima was made specifically to make me cum, so I'm really sad this game didn't get a more competent developer.
