Silver Surfer

released on Nov 01, 1990

Silver Surfer is a shooter game, with some levels taking place vertically and some horizontally. The Surfer's only ability is to move around on the screen and to shoot directly in front of him. Power-ups that can be picked up include: the letter "F" (Firepower) which will increase the number and power of his projectiles, Smart bombs which destroy everything on the screen, the letter "S" (Speedup) which increases the surfer's movement and Orbs which will also fire the Surfer's weapon. Orbs are special in that two can be obtained (only 1 is shown on horizontal scrolling levels) and they can be positioned to fire forwards, backwards or sideways.

It's alright, quite a bit bullshit in areas but with a healthy amount of save scumming and making sure to collect the weapon orbs- it becomes much easier and quite quick to beat. Its whatever, there's worse games.

The Silver Surfer on NES is infamous for its brutal difficulty, and yeah, it totally lives up to the hype. You'll die a million times, and the one-hit kills are infuriating. But... the chiptune soundtrack is incredible, and there's something weirdly compelling about the challenge. If you're a masochist who loves retro games, maybe try it. But for most people? Better to just find the soundtrack on YouTube and save yourself the headache.

yes i'm using Save states because this game is stupid hard. A being (depending on the writer) has done Universal+ level feats is weaker than a Rubber Ducky in this game.

Rubber Ducky > Goku > Dora The Explore > THIS Silver Surfer

The soundtrack is genuinely one of the greatest things to come out of the NES era, not just good as a video game soundtrack but just music in general, god forbid actually playing the game though

Jeez everything wants to kill Silver Surfer. And I thought the whole town trying to kill Dr. Jekyll was like bullet hell.
Everything OHKOs you and enemies are fast with wacky patterns, still... the game is great and it has a great reward system: survive and you get to listen to the amazing soundtrack, which is one of the best on the NES.

I couldn't finish a single stage lmao
You definitely need a turbo button to have a chance.

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK WERE THEY THINKING
