better than the original steins;gate but that is not a very high bar

After playing Steins;Gate and its first spinoff/sequel, I had high hopes for this next installment in the series – however, this time I felt that something was missing, and, even though I generally liked the game, I must admit that sometimes I was just scrolling through texts not caring too much for the plot or the characters.

Just like My Darling's Embrace, this is a collection of short, alternate reality stories, a bunch of “What if…?” scenarios. The only difference is that these are not as light-hearted, and most of them have a bit darker, more serious tone, not unlike that of the main game. Unfortunately, for me at least, these got a bit repetitive after a while, and the fact that each chapter is played from a different person’s perspective didn’t help that much, either. Don’t get me wrong, I still love this cast, but maybe introducing some new people, brand new locations, or new types of problems in the mix could have shaken things up a bit more.

All in all, this is still a solid visual novel, just don’t expect too much from it.

Best S;G side content and most of it needs to be canon.
