so, my rating and review might be a controversial one. i love this game, and despite all its many flaws, i still consider it one of my favorites, and it's a very meaningful game to me.

my emotional attachment to this game carries a lot of my rating; i stumbled upon some promo art for this game, and was instantly drawn in by the amazing character design. this was the game that introduced me to the tales series, which is now one of my favorite video game series of all time.

while this game has flaws, a large part of the negative perception of this game revolves around outside factors concerning one specific character (which i won't touch on because i don't want to spoiler tag this), which i think is quite silly, honestly. if you don't go into the game with any preconceived ideas, there are no problems.

i love this game's atmosphere, particularly the home of sorey and mikleo, aselia. talking to the village that raised them and feeling how loved they were was a really wonderful feeling, and it felt like coming home every time i returned there.

the game FEELS grand, and although it swings and largely misses, it earnestly tries, and i can't fault it for that. i played this game for over 200 hours and completed it in a month because i just couldn't set it down. it's also the first jrpg i've played with a gay protagonist and deuteragonist which is very meaningful to me.
