Xybots is a sci-fi shooter with pseudo-3D environments explored from a third-person perspective. The game can be played by one or two players; the two-player mode takes place on a split screen. The hero(es) must move through a series of Gauntlet-style underground mazes, killing the bad guys and collecting health and other bonuses from flying saucers. It's designed to be played co-operatively, although bullets from one player can harm the other.

Wow this is really neat and something that I never knew existed. Kind of amazing how well they pull off the 3D effect and how much it tricks you to feel like a contemporary third person shooter.

Pseudo 3D, third person Gauntlet-esque shooter. It's a neat idea, but more of a preview of the future due to the limitations of the tech.

difícil demais pra tentar mas daora

Jogo incrível pra sua época.

This was an incredible arcade perfect handheld port. Looked and sounded just as good as the version you would stuff ten pence pieces into.

Why only 2 stars? Because it was too slavish to the arcade original. It kept the constantly draining health bar that was in the arcade machine to keep you feeding in more money. Except in the home version you can't add extra credits so you usually die to attrition at some point if you don't do an incredibly efficient speed run avoiding incoming fire and racing for the exits.
