It is clear why this game is one of the all time greatest games. It's cinematic, it looks good, and its impact on the FPS genre paved the way for later games such as Medal of Honor and Call of Duty. A movie tie-in game has no right to be this good. The two biggest downsides for this game are that the controls are not very good because they were still figuring out 3D aiming and the N64 only had one joystick. The second complaint is the framerate, the framerate can lag a lot sometimes. Nevertheless this is definitely worth the play whether you get it on N64, Xbox Series X, or Nintendo Switch.

A little harder than it needs to be, but replaying the levels and learning them as you go is pretty satisfying when it works.

I, like many other boomers had some fun as a child on this game in the 90s. But just earlier this year I finally decided to really play it on my Xbox Series X through gamepass and it was a complete treasure. The audio design is so legendary, I can hear the guns in my head while writing this.

There are plenty of old games that feel dated as hell but somehow on this game it works in its favor. Just surfing around levels at full speed using the dpad instead of analog stick was a such a blast.

And the speedrun achievements are some of the most exhilarating and fun things you can do on a game.

I wasn't quite at Streets 112, but Archives was a doozy.
