Games named after a muscular, overconfident, hypermasculine idiot protagonist

Seemingly, a proposed remedy to the child-friendly animal mascot characters of the early 90s, many publishers bet the farm on big biceped dummies in the mid-nineties, while Croc, Gex, Crash and Spyro sailed onwards, toward the new millennium.

You know, Doom almost fits this criteria. The main character is the Doom Slayer (or Doom Guy), very muscular and masculine, extremely confident (but probably closer to fearless), not too sure about being an idiot. I think D.S. is more simple then he is dumb, but eh semantics.

Doomguy's background is that he was thrown out of the marines for refusing to fire at civilians. I wouldn't assert that he is dumb.

Good point there. In hindsight should've probably given the Slayer more respect
