They fixed all my issues with Johto here, this is a beautiful game and the region feels so vibrant and lived in. It's so polished and there is probably more content in this game than any other in the series, as well as aesthetic details like the following Pokémon that add a lot of charm. The level curving is still really weird though lol. Narrative still isn't always so engaging but I can see why so many people hold this as peak.

I'm skipping D&P because they'd just be the same review but slightly worse. This is such a great game, I understand why it's the favourite of many, the region is vast and exciting and so many great Pokémon designs, including revisiting older mons and reimagining them with evolutions which was a great trend to start. The pacing is very weird but the narrative works and is memorable, and the gameplay is hugely (hugely) improved with the physical/special split which makes battling much more dynamic (whilst still being turn based). We're nearing peak.

Gen III is the only generation I've never been able to play a game from. Somebody get this man a GBA. Looks like fun.

These aren't my favourites. More of an expansion on Kanto, Johto feels quite lacking (something they brought more life to in the remakes). You can catch Kanto Pokémon the whole game, yet there are Johto mons that aren't available until the postgame, which takes place in Kanto. I think to me these are some of the only games in the series that feel like they lack their own identity, and it's personal preference but a lot of the Pokémon designs themselves are quite plain. Not you raikou, I love you.

Not sure where to start reviewing so I'm gonna go through all the Pokémon games I've played. This game is broken, a lot of the sprites are very unflattering and its completely unbalanced, psychic types literally break the game. However, it is very charming to see somewhat humble beginnings and a realistic feel to the 'Catch 'em All' motto that has kind of been lost as we've gotten so many Pokémon, and the foundation is here for the next 30 years and further.

Everything is perfect. Only game so good I got a tattoo. So far. Slightly beats out Among Thieves for me because the narrative is slightly better and I find the stealth mechanics a fun alternative. Also it looks gorgeous.
