When I first finished this I wasn't completely blown away, it's a bit dated and just like every other RE game, it's so front loaded with all the good shit so it kinda falls off at the end.

But after playing the Remake and some time apart from the game, I realised I really really like this. The combat is so good, the controls are so awkward when you start playing but as soon as it clicks, it sings. I love the feedback you get from shooting enemies, one of my biggest issues with the remake is that all the zombies feel so spongy and it made me feel so helpless but not in a good way, it's done perfectly in the original IMO..

My main negative is how the relationship between Ashley and Leon is non existent, everytime they reunite they just go "hey, I'm back" and there's no real dialogue. I guess that's just because the game is older and story didn't matter as much back then, this is not The Last of Us. (how mental is it that the time between RE4 and TLOU is basically the same between TLOU and TLOU2...)

(also there's a bunch of upskirts and weird sex jokes about Ashley which are just uncomfortable but I guess it was 2005)

The relationship thing isn't because it was a 2005 game it was because Capcom gave the writers 2 days to actually write the plot
