Tried real hard to stick with this game but the combat system rapidly becomes boring and the cutscenes/story are just a massive cringe-fest that ruins everything that was established in FFX. This might unironically be the worst Final Fantasy game I've ever touched.

@AdorableLaurie Can’t say I totally agree on all this. Not sure if it’s because I don’t have a lot of nostalgia for X or because I just am not that invested in its world but sometimes I can totally be down for a silly girl adventure. The game is full of tonal whiplash though for sure. One minute she’s singing pop songs and the next she’s having nightmares about being gunned down. Such a strange direction for Square to take after X.

I do agree the combat gets kind of boring after a bit. I think if they would have just made the fights harder it could have been more fun. The game is so easy that you never really have a reason to change jobs unless you just want to because. Regardless, a sequel to X could have been so much more and you’re not wrong for disliking it.
@LuluKachoo At first I kinda digged the tonal shift between how hopeless the mood in FFX was and how silly X-2 is. In a way it's brillant because it shows how quickly these sacred locations have been perverted by the touch of capitalism by turning them into tourist attraction. But after a while it lost its oomph-factor and the gang was still acting like silly pre-teens instead of having a fraction of a character arc or some kind of realization that things aren't the way they should have been in a post-Sin world.

The cringe was too much for me to handle but I totally get why some people are into it. The whole experience feels like watching a direct-to-VHS Disney movie sequel that has none of the depth or good writing the original has, but still is a fun timewaster. Maybe someday I'll give it another chance but I'd rather be playing something else as of right now. It just feels bad to play this immediately after X in my opinion.
