Playing all other souls games before this one lessens the impact of it and wish i could have experienced it before playing the rest.

To start with, this game might have the most unique and stunning art direction on the PS5. While other games look more realistic, the lightning work in this one is phenomenal. It ran like a dream with zero issues for me.

The obvious thing to point is that, by being the first game of this concept, it is extremely easy when compared to the rest of the games. It has a lot of gimmicky fights and the boss fights that are not designed under this mantra are quite easy.

The level design itself is good, but it doesn't compare to other titles. Having to beat the entire level in one run means that sometimes the boss runs can be quite tedious. While I initially hated levels like Tower of Latria, that ended up being the highlight of the game.

NPC quests are paired back and less involved. However, the introduction of White/Black Tendency adds some genuine new events to areas, even when this mechanic is not explained in the best manner.

All and all a fantastic remake that only gets overshadowed because the rest of the series has evolved so much in more than a decade.
