I only cleared the first level of the game, Medical.

I dropped it afterward.

I believe the idea behind the core gameplay loop is resource management, which is an idea that I like. Use melee combat to kill this one weak enemy and save your bullets for the stronger foes and etc, however it was poorly executed in System Shock Remake.

the combat is so, so bad. So underwhelming. There is something about the gunplay that I can't quite put my finger on that makes it so, so bad. I found that the enemies kept hitting me with their bullets even though I was moving, their bullets never miss me. Almost as if their aim is perfectly on me all the time.

I felt bored and frustrated after every encounter. I also found that resources were not scarce at all. I never ran out of ammo despite using my firearms for the majority of the level which made the combat boring and frustrating when there are multiple enemies (specifically the ones who can shoot projectiles at you) and easy when there is only one or two.

The premise is interesting. And I liked the interconnectivity of the level and the immersive sim aspect of the game. I wish the remake made a lot of changes to the combat while still preserving the feel and the intended experience of the game.

The combat isn't bad, the hitscanners are here for a reason. The game design isn't based around the player's mechanical skill. System Shock isn't pure power fantasy like DOOM is.
