edit 2: super funny scott the woz made a video and its 1:1 every issue i have lol
edit: dropping it half a star as its dawned on me i have little to no desire to ever go back to this game (update its now almost the end of 2023 and i still havent gone back to it)

BLOWN AWAY by the music, art, map size, caves and especially the finale despite the writing oversights, final boss was 10/10... rest of the game was 7/10.
this game does SO MUCH right but ultimately falls short of the original for me, mainly due to the difficulty, puzzles, writing and lack of polish in some areas (also a lot of the shrines are kinda weak imo). i really wish instead of just adding a bunch of new shit, they would of went back and fixed/polished some of the pre-existing mechanics and took player criticism into account (aside from the weapon durability, i think its 100% genius... slipping in the rain and the sex moans all the npcs make however...).
i also really dont like, and this is just personal preference, how hand holdy the game is compared to botw, i much preferred how botw trusted you the player to figure shit out on your own and experiment, have fun with the systems and learn as you play, it made you feel so smart for figuring shit out. i feel totk over-explains too much and reveals way too much, the tutorial island was really weak and suffers the most from this. also the game overall feels MUCH easier from the puzzles to the bosses, i never once had any major issues aside from the desert (thunderblight gives me ptsd). even the final boss which was a little challenging due to gloom, was ultimately piss easy and i only ever had to use a healing item once or twice, i really hope the next zelda game focuses on improving the base combat and sword play adding new mechanics like (and trust me, i know its overused) a dodge roll or something because i would love more difficult bosses that push you to the limits. the jumping and flurry rush is fun, parry too but its kinda slow and janky sometimes, also just... kinda grating after a bit.

all in all though, i still thoroughly enjoyed this game and im excited to 100% it like botw. (hi, future me here. refer to edit lmao. i havent touched this game literally since i beat it)
