I don't know how it's possible, but this game took everything they did in the first one and threw it out the window. The combat was changed; there were some improvements, but basically demons became very useless, and they added special powers depending on the weapon, which hardly changes anything in combat. The story of the game was just horrible this time around; there were several new characters with no charisma at all, and even the characters that had charisma in the first one had much less shine in this one. The main villain of the plot is interesting at first until he becomes unbearable too. The final chapter this time also gave the game a boost, but the ending was a mess. You can perfectly understand why they never made a Raidou 3 after this.

Last sentence is a tad odd. Post-release they said this is the more refined version of the original Raidou game and did everything they wanted to with it. Kaneko actually stated that this felt more like the true "Devil Summoner 3." In fact, a lot of ideas in this game were reimplemented in SMT IV.

I understand that the creator was proud and that this game had a lot of improvements compared to the first. But it's still Raidou 2, and it doesn't have any sequels, so I don't really get what was odd about it, and it's probably never gonna have a sequel. Of course, the creator doing what he wants is a strong factor in the decisions, but you think that if the Persona team said that they already did everything they wanted with Persona, they wouldn't make Persona 6? Even if the creator is satisfied with this game, the fact that it doesn't have a sequel implies that it wasn't that big of a success. But again, that is just my opinion; I completely understand if someone would be really into this game.
