Perhaps Zachtronics' most famous title, Opus Magnum is a dive into alchemy mechanics, with its share of diverse puzzles. While it doesn't have the same variety of situations as the other titles, the game is enjoyable because of its short storyline, which contextualises the actions of our protagonist. It is regrettable that the game loses the strong dimension of a SHENZHEN I/O, insofar as you only have to make a limited number of products, which allows the use of brute force. In this respect, it is a bit of a shame that there are not more levels where you have to make an infinite chain, arguably the most interesting of the lot. Interestingly, it is only within the side missions of the journal that interesting concepts are developed. The making of the "Reactive Gold" is a wonderful reminder of the key principle of conservation of matter, while the sixth set of puzzles showcase tight spaces, raising the difficulty. In any case, the title is of a rare quality and largely dominates the puzzle game scene, for those willing to take the time. Opus Magnum is a convenient gateway into Zachtronics' games, without denying the franchise's heritage, and while preparing for more challenging games.
