The Last Story is a name that gives off a swan song connotation and The Last Story definitely can be described as a swan song. Releasing on the Wii in its twilight years, the same year as the Wii U's release and also being Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi's attempt to make an important game after the commercial failures of Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey.. Now does it live up to any type of reputation as a swan song, only in its strong gameplay core otherwise I can't say it's anything truly amazing. The story is a bit bland and the graphics are pretty, but there's a considerable slowdown. The combat is interesting and so much fun. Making up for blandness with combat sections that flow perfectly, I honestly wish there was more it. Not a bad game overall and it's quite fun but nothing incredible.
