I can’t believe the original game came out in 2002

The atmosphere is just completely unmatched. It is about as perfect a translation of a game from 2D to 3D that you could ask for. The progression through the world is so thoughtful. The secrets are great. The bosses are all spectacular

The game is really special, and the dual stick aiming controls with gyro make a huge difference in terms of playing it today. The fact that is all that really needed to be changed to make this game still feel fresh in a genre that has seen so much change 20+ years later is just incredible
