Maybe doesn't quite meet "holds up" standards of modern playability, but it is remarkably much more than a footnote in games history than something like the original System Shock which today I find unplayable. The Lovecraftian vibes hit, there's full on voice acting and plenty of lore, and pre-rendered backgrounds and tank controls are just generally my jam. I soft locked myself twice and had to entirely restart, which would suck much more if the game were more than 3 hours, but still sucked nonetheless. Easy to see where Resident Evil and Silent Hill took the flag and ran with it. Still not easy to recommend though for anyone who doesn't like dealing with modern PC compatibility (like myself), or frustratingly outdated controls/combat. Maybe watching a longplay on YouTube would be just as worthwile.
