This game is fine. I really don't like it though. When I went over the list of things I don't like about X2 it felt more opinionated and nitpicky than most of my takes, and it's still a good Mega Man game, so it's hard for me to really rag on it.

My biggest gripes is the level design, I'm not going to say X1 was super intuitive level design, but it let you dash, jump and shoot through the stages pretty quickly while having cool set pieces and scenery. X's kit really gets to stretch its legs in X1. X2's felt...bland and limited. The stages have things going on, like Magna Centipede, but they're not really much in terms of challenge or enjoyment, Other stages are so short and forgettable that I found myself saying "that's it?" in 3 separate stages. Dashing through didn't feel as fun, just there.

The other things are the bosses. I've mostly been doing buster only through my playthroughs unless I'm really not enjoying the game (looking at you gameboy 1-4), and in this game trying to attempt that felt like...such a slog, and in some cases detrimental. I ended up just using boss weaknesses after a while which. Trivialized most of the boss fights. Compound this with having to get used to the X Hunters and redoing certain parts of stages over and over, I just... did not enjoy a ton of the bosses in game.

Overall, X2 is fine. It's more Mega Man X even if its less good. This one feels like its about on part with other comparable SNES action platformers.
