As a stand-alone game, of course, it’s amazing. Metroid Prime has such a deep atmosphere and an excellently designed world with its immensely immersive environments, and a plethora of interesting lore we experience through the visors. Combat is fun and the progression feels more satisfying than any game in the series. This is the definitive way to play Metroid Prime, however, they, unfortunately, didn’t make the effort to rectify the faults of the original game. The Chozo Artifact hunt is still blatant padding with little incentive to justify the annoying backtracking, the bosses are still incredibly dull or tedious, lacking any engaging qualities to them barring a select few, and the map is still archaic and missing a plethora of otherwise necessary features for a game like this. Overall though, it’s an excellent game that is more than worth your time.
