Yes, the MSQ does drag for A Realm Reborn, but overall the story is a great introduction into this fantasty world. This style of this MMO that has such a focus on its story is refreshing coming from WoW that has devolved into "blast up to max level and then the game becomes a multiplayer dungeon crawler".
The music, even in A Realm Reborn, is phenomenal. I really had been missing out on Final Fantasty's music score composed by Nobuo Uematsu. Do yourself a favour and if your playing this for the first time get someone to carry you through the Coils of Bahamut. (I'll do it for free if you're on Moogle and have just read this before starting Heavensward.) Not only is the raid beautiful, but "From the Ashes" and "Answers" during the final fight being synced with the phases is artistry.
