C'mon, this game has Popple in it. Fucking Popple. Of course it's the best game ever made.

I never got a GBA so when this remake was announced I was REALLY excited. I already was an huge fan of the series thanks to Bowser's Inside Story and Dream Team, so it was a matter of time before I grabbed a copy, which I eventually did in 2019, and yo, this shit is fire.

After playing half of the orginal, I'm still amazed about how this one managed to capture most of the visual charm of the almost comic look of the original, sure, some of the main characters or enemies present in other Mario games have been changed to fit their more common designs, but all of the original enemies and characters from the original release still look as good and funny as ever, and the new bacgrounds and ilumination look gorgeous, and everything running at a crisp 60 FPS makes this a treat.

Story wise, this is probably the mos episodic out of all of the Mario & Luigi games, the game is not divided by chapters, but the way the plot flows reminds me of a Saturday Morning Cartoon in the best way, it's very charming and honestly REALLY works with how the game is designed, tho I'll see that the ending, not the final area or boss, but the ending itself, feels a bit anticlamatic, still, a nice little story that has being funny and charming as the main objective, wich it's better than... other games in the series, to say the least.

Gameplay is by far the most simple out of all of the games, wich makes sense, but it doesn't feel barebones in the slightest, everything feels like it has its place, the combat is fast paced, the enemies feel unique from each other and the areas are unique and distinct: it ticks all of the boxes that the series from then on would follow or suprass, sometimes that is. Also yeah, the music goes hard, the original one was pretty good, but the remixes and rearrangements in the remake are incredible, some like Cakletta's theme are some of the best pieces of music I've heard in any RPG period (Teehee Valley my beloved).

So... pretty good huh? Yeah, absolute fantastic remake. No problems. Nope. Not one at a- Bowser's Minions really does suck, and I don't mean that in a good way. It's tedious as shit, it has barely any gameplay, and the only good thing it does is set Fawful as an antagonist for Inside Story... which Partners in Time already kinda did... So yeah, this mode is completely worthless and it deduct half a star, but, the base game is so good that I can't bring myself to do it.

I really love this game and I'm really happy it got remade, it gave the opportunity to experience a modernized version of a franchise I hold very dear to my heart, even if I don't really love that much most of it. So yeah, pretty great game, one of the most fun RPG's out there and an overalla achievement for both the GBA and the 3DS.
