Mortal Kombat is a brutal and awesome return to form for the series. The fighting feels tight, fatalities are ridiculously over-the-top, and the story mode is surprisingly entertaining. It's not the deepest fighting game, and there are some annoying difficulty spikes here and there, but man, it's incredibly satisfying to pull off those crazy X-Ray moves and iconic combos. If you're looking for a gory good time with some classic fighting game action, this one delivers.
