The BBC Micro was designed as part of BBC's Computer Literacy Project, and was notable for its rugged design, expandability, and the quality of its operating system. As part of this initiative, the BBC released a television series featuring Chris Serle in 1982, The Computer Programme, available in its entirety on YouTube. The BBC Micro sold for less than half the price of an Apple II system, and its feature set and ease of use made it a critical component of the 1980's British microcomputer boom.
Most, if not all, of these titles are also available on other micros of the era.
