Aggressive and unintelligible, Sengoku takes no time throwing you between heaven and Earth, possessing your body with the souls of ancient warriors, and assaulting you with swordsmen who parry sword-strikes faster than you can say "what the hell is going on?".

It's fun for sure, but mechanically there's little advantage to indulging in the game's main premise of character swapping, with the primary character often being the most competent pick for the job. On top of this? It's kind of hard compared to other beat-em-ups of the time. Enemies are fast to counter and designed to bait you, which is equal parts exciting and frustrating.

You can play a better beat-em-up. You can certainly play a worse one. But you'll only play a few more memorable, be that a blessing or a curse...
