Pleasant but uninspiring. Return to Monkey Island is more interested making references and callbacks to previous games instead of ingratiating itself to new players.

The writing is ok but was rarely funny which is a disappointing in a game like this. The puzzles are mostly fine, but there are a few that ask a bit too much of the player. Fortunately, the in-game hint system works well and will keep you in the game rather than having to look things up online.

This is not a bad game, but I couldn't get excited about it enough to recommend it unless you have an affinity for point and click games or a prior history with the series.
